I was thinking to myself, "why would Nyarly make so many heirs and consorts that he ends up being unable to control? That seems... well, stupid," but I think the willfulness is the appeal. He feels, correctly or incorrectly, that he is the most wilful entity in our corner of the cosmos. After a while, being the sole arbiter of reality (again -- from his perspective) gets boring. He wants to play. So he intentionally knocks up people of formidable White energy* so they'll have heirs that will forever struggle with their dual nature (and fight him the entire way). So he intentionally engineers a consort that will not crumble under the unfathomable weight of apotheosis and will retain its nature and will do whatever it feels like doing with its power so Nyarly will have stuff to mess with and undo. It's all part of the game. He likes it rough, you know.
*I need you to know that my original phrasing was "White power" and double-face-palm-combo-x2'ing at that derailed my entire thought for a minute and a half
