After graduating from Hogwarts, Ash received a letter from the Ministry of Magic, more specifically, the Department of Mysteries. They mentioned her essay centered around afterlife and death and eventually proposed a position for her in the Death Chamber. White was not much interested in other jobs at the meantime so she accpeted. Her life didn't change much at least until the day she heard Kyril's voice in the Death Chamber.
Since Kyril's death, Ash kept working in the Department of Mysteries but her work now involved collecting Death artifacts and eliminated those who sold them illegally - pretty much sounded like an Auror. When Voldemort conquered the Ministry, Ash disappeared, didn't even leave a letter for her friends. Still, after the Battle of Hogwarts, Ash came back, bringing more than one hundred wands of the Death Eaters with blood stains on them.
