How to diagnose water damage and fix leaks on RVs…?
RV leaks mostly happen in the roof. A leaky RV roof is very detrimental to overall value of RV because it means your RV is messed up with water damage which is a total nuisance to have. Once, water penetrates the interior of your RV than it’s a total killer for all your electrical appliances and interior stuff.
Identifying water damage
The most obvious sign to water damage is staining of the interior of your RV along with black mold in certain spots or corners of the RV. Other signs of RV water damage also include damp spots, discolorations, and splotches. Also examine the outer screws of the RV. If, screws are of the same color as body of RV than its fine but if they are rusty or brown than it means they are damaged by some sort of water damage. Also, keep a close eye on the state of your RV caulking. If, the caulking is severely damaged or peeling than it will not provide water-proof protection and water will find it’s way to seep into the RV.
When it’s too much
When the amount of money you have to pay for repairs is greater than your expectations or budget than it’s a better idea to salvage the RV. Fixing isolated places in the RV are cheaper than replacing the whole RV roof, similarly as long as wall and roof of RV are not rotten salvaging the RV is much manageable.
Preventing water damage
Make quick inspections a habit and avoid costly RV repairs. Also, all of that water damages could have been avoided by using a high-quality RV roof coating and sealant e.g., RV Roof Magic. If your roof is made of rubber and is only damaged in small areas, you can use RV Roof Magic to reseal it and if caulking is faulty in certain spots, use a trustworthy, durable caulk e.g., Rubex caulk to reseal those spots.
