Got my first order from them.
My parents were first responders once.
My mom did some ambulance work before going on to becoming a nurse for most of my life. Mostly auxiliary work. She did a little private home care work before retiring from the job permanently. My dad was a volunteer firefighter in a little town called Castor for a lot of years while side lining as a reservist army member and a mechanic, among other things.
As you can imagine they both have seen a lot of death. Some situations were nicer then others but it all ends the same way. A funeral and some grief.
The part of that people don't see are the first responders sides. The families they have and the ultimate toll it can take on them. They both have PTSD from separate incidents. They both have it under control and are seen as regular people on the outside. But kids absorb a lot. You notice things. You hear things. My dad is a sleep talker. He's had some moments that you know he's at a fire call in his dreams right now and it didn't go well. Remembering things he doesn't talk about.
Growing up I was adjusted fine. It never spilled over into our regular day to day life like a lot of people's situations do. I got lucky there. Being a first responder can be hard. It is also a very selfless position to willingly sign up for. You have to be a certain type of person or the job eats you alive and spits you out. It can be very rewarding. You see people on their worst days but also their best ones. The saves are what drive people to continue.
I have nothing but respect for a person who is willing to put it all on the line for someone else, daily. It's a heavy burden to shoulder but they do it well.
I am very excited to of discovered this coffee company and I look forward to ordering more from them. These guys deserve all the love and support you can give them.
She was very interested in the package on the step.
That is the first order. I have only tried the Last Mile and it was fantastic. Had some nutmegy sort of spice to it. Delicious.
The compostable packaging is a huge plus.
