JOHN KINDNESS

John Kindness (born1951) is a renowned Northern Irish artist known for blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary pop culture.

ICONIC WORK : "THE BIG FISH" (Belfast). Completed in 1999, this 10-meter sculpture is a landmark of Belfast's waterfront.

• SYMBOLISM: It refers to the Irish legend of the "Salmon of Knowledge", which granted wisdom to anyone who tasted it.

• UNIQUE SCALES: The outer layer consists of ceramic tites. Each tile is an individual work of art, featuring scenes from Belfast's history, newspaper clippings and drawings by local children.

• TIME CAPSULE: A time capsule containing information about the city, poems and photographs is embedded inside the sculpture.

ANISH KAPOOR

Anish Kapoor is a world-renowned British-Indian sculptor,born in 1954 in Mumbai. He is one of the most influential contemporary artists, known for creating monumental installations that challenge our perception of space.

His works combine minimalism with metaphor. He often uses polished stainless steel(creating mirrored reflections), pigments, wax, granite and marble. Kapoor holds the exclusive artistic rights to use the world's blackest black, which absorbs 99,96% of light, making 3D objects appear flat.

A sculpture is the final piece that ties everything together.

CONSTRUCTION:

1. The painting I created in painting class, I will cut it into a circular shape and glue it to cardboard (so the painting stays stiff).

2. Next, I will cut a large ring (bigger than the painting), and six long strips.

3. Then,using cardboard strips and hot glue, I will connect the back image to the larger front ring, creating a structure in the shape of an expanding tube.

4. Next, I will attach a cord to the back of the picture, which will be used to hang the piece on the wall.

INSTALLATION:

1. From the back top part of the image, I will attach several fishing lines to the front top part of the ring.

2. I will hang small fish made of clay and wire on the attached lines.

3. I will also attach small christmas tree lamps.

4. I will wrap the tube in cling film (this is to give the impression of water).

THIS IS THE FINAL EFFECT I HOPE TO ACHIEVE.
