Why oh why, some volcanoes spit lava?
This question came to my head when visiting the volcano at Stromboli in Italy. There's a simple explanation that clears up both why there's lava being sput out of the crater (quite amazing to witness by the way) and where do the inhabitants of the island get the fuel from, so here it goes:They dig a hole in the ground, put in the left overs from all the fish they consume (there are loads of tourists every day so there's a lot of organic remains) and due to the heat emanating from the volcano the process to get the fuel is sped up. But because they need a lot of fuel they put more and more fish left overs thus increasing the pressure underground and so forcing the lava out.But hey!, this way they attract tourists to see the lava and eat their fish and generate more left overs to produce more petrol which then can be used to power their taxi things to take them tourist around the island and so it's a close cycle :)
