(Asking many people this to see how different the answers are) I've not seen them, but many people tout Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra as something special. With few exceptions, like the films of Hayao Miyazaki & Satoshi Kon, I really don't like Anime. I find too much of it badly animated, offensively sexist (ex: hyper-sexualized 12 year old girls), and badly written with stereotypical, 1D characters. What separates ATLA/TLoK from these others and makes it a thing I might like?
Well first of all it’s not an anime, it’s a cartoon so that might help. Second of all I found the series to be shit until season 3 where real character development went down. Third, anime is more of a medium to tell a story than a genre of story so find better anime that lacks those things you hate if you want to not be upset about it.
