It was an emotional event that has brought tears to my eyes.The feeling of complete emptiness and total loss is one that you might not have experienced in your life.For that, I envy you. I envy you for the power you still have that is full of freedom and trust that life is forever.This Music for Miracles event today was in Memory of Miranda Bauer who passed at the young age of 17. Do you remember being 17? At 17, Miranda was a remarkable and effervescent person who touched many people in her short life. A scholastic high achiever, champion debater, musician, and fundraiser who had a large circle of friends are just some of her accomplishments. Miranda appeared in commercial spots for a SickKids ad campaign. She also raised over $10,000 for SickKids cancer research through a fundraising event known as the "Celebration of Miracles." Miranda is also a recipient of the Kids Believe in Sick Kids Award for her efforts. Even in the face of a challenging illness Miranda remained positive and possessed a strength that is beyond measure.I want to thank John, Patti and Eric Bauer for being so strong and fulfilling what Miranda truly believed in. I was honoured to be a part of this special day, and want to thank everyone that came out even though tears were falling from the sky.The strength of our Niagara community at Firemans Park today for Miranda and what she believed in was heart warming.That being said, did you know only 4-6% of funds raised goes to paediatric research? That IS unconscionable & tragic.I know a lot of folks couldn't make it out or might not have had known about today's event... so if there's anything you feel you would like to donate whether it be money, time or just helping out by spreading awareness for Children's Cancer Awareness please contact Miranda's mom Patti at [email protected] and she can help you with info on how to be involved.
