Love to @promarkbydaddario and @evansdrumheads who manufacture the paint 🎨 brushes and canvases which I CHOOSE to create my aural art with. 1. Every time I pick up the #promark #broomsticks I can’t help doing a poor mans version of a @willcalhoundrum drum solo. Picture broom bristles wrapped within a plastic handle. Strokes resonate drums with a sound in between rods and brushes but with a Somalian flare. Worth every penny. 2. My great friend @grappaman1 gave me these 5B weight prototype #firegrain #promarksticks about 7 months prior to their release. Coming from a 5B Oak wood tip, the #firegrain tech seems so so. Drummers like @darujones love them so I guess it’s all good. 3. Rumour has it @dr.stevegadd had the first #signature #drumstick ever. The original #stevegaddsticks had a black tip that left black paint like a tattoo all over your heads and cymbals. Thankfully these latest nimble barrel tip 5As have no paint on the tip. 4. I call these the @elliott_sharp specials. As in if you don’t have these with you on a trio gig with #elliottsharp you’ll get some mean looks from the front of stage. Rods or #vicfirth #rute s like these are second only to sticks in their importance in ones stick bag. I find myself sometimes using the rutes on the hihats and a stick doing side sticks on gigs for volume control. 5. @jackdejohnette_ is an #icon . Point blank. #fullstop . While doing a session with @jaleezy , a pair of #jacks #signature sticks (his favorite) fell into my stick bag (I promise it was an accident and I’ll return them). The rich thick green paint acts somewhat like a tacky #activegrip while the #nylontip begs to coax swing rhythms on a flat ride. 6. The @vicfirth #livewires are typical brushes but with tiny balls soldered onto each wire tip. Loudest and most reactive brushes I’ve ever played and perfect for outdoor performances. 7. These #promark brushes #b400 are my favorite brushes to perform with. The plastic wires mellow the attack for heavy handed players such as myself.
