Concept: early 19th century firefly. Mainly because River would eat those flowy underboob dresses
This is so embarrassing because I am obsessed with historical costuming and the dynamics of certain eras but like...1800-1840 is a complete blank in my knowledge. I don't know much at all about the early 19th century. 😬
But in general: agreed! I think she would have been put in this iconic (to me at least) child's dress and it was one of her favorite dresses but she wore it at the Cambersons' garden party and it got absolutely wrecked with hodgeberry juice so she wasn't allowed to wear it anymore.

HUGE day for fans of shaking Gale by the shoulders until he learns to love himself!!
It's here, kids. The BIG one.
“I swear, even if the rest of my life only constitutes the next few hours, I will spend every second of it in atonement to you. I hope you don’t think less of me. I deserve every ounce of your rage, every comparison to him –” Vi couldn’t allow this to continue. “No, you don’t. I – I shouldn’t have said that. I’m sorry.” Gale chuckled wetly. “You have nothing to apologise for, this is my –” Her legs were folding before she even decided, the rustle of chartreuse silk against the plush carpet as Vi sank to her knees. Gale’s eyes flew open as she grabbed his face between both hands and forced him to stare her square in the face. “Fine,” she said fiercely. “If you refuse to believe me that bad, Gale, let me put this in your terms.” He looked slightly terrified, the tears themselves freezing on his cheeks. Vi narrowed her eyes. “I don’t care what you think you deserve. I am not everything – I am your captain, and I command you to stop listening to your fucked internal compass. I will tell you what you deserve.” He sucked a shaky inhale. His gaze warmed with the slightest curl at the corner of his mouth. “I accept your apology. Do you have a problem with that?” Gale shook his head. “Good. Now accept mine.” He nodded. Vi’s eyes flashed. “With words.” Gale swallowed, lips pressed tight against the growing smile. “I – I forgive you.” “Better.”
And then they have crazy-style reunion sex all over the Ravengard apartments on Baldur's Gate. Ooops, sorry Wyll 🤭
Chapter 21 of To Rattle the Stars is now live on AO3!!

Collecting my tags like stray cats in the hopes of whipping (haha, get it) them under control. Thank you @cinder-rellish181 @fireflyeyes and @optimisticgrey , I finally have something cool to share!! The below is from the upcoming chapter of SpaceGate, where I took a bit of a different approach post-big Vi and Gale fallout in Chapter 17, and switched between each companion's POV over the course of a tenday time skip. It might be my favourite chapter in the whole fic, tbh? Lae'zel's headspace is fucking hilarious. Sadly however, Gale's is not.
It's quite a long one but ask me if I care. Warnings for angst, being bad at processing emotions, self-loathing, references to abuse and the briefest smut. What can I say - the man contains multitudes.

The solitary blue glow from his laptop screen turned the stark white apartment to hostile ultraviolence. Gale had no idea of the exact time, but it was late. Without her, the insomnia returned in full force – not that he’d ever tell her. He didn’t want to be more of a burden than he already was.
He had reached a particularly convoluted part of Karsus’s research, his predecessor’s typically dry and scientific tone devolving into a strange metaphysical philosophicism, all long run-on sentences and ontological internal debate and bordering on mania. It both irked and fried Gale’s brain. Karsus seemed to be implying even after developing MYSTRA to her fullest capacity, she might not be enough to sustain the Orb’s immense power when combined with the Crown.
Oddly enough, MYSTRA had told him something similar, on another such witching hour in the laboratory, observing coolly as he dragged a hand through his hair.
