i wasn’t making fun of his looks though I just thought it was surprising. His transition shades are kind of funny though

fun fact: I used to actually be a fan of Banksy’s back in like 2007 and own his book War and Piece, which I got from an ex, so I did know this already. You could go as far as to say that I used to be a big fan of his and told all my friends about him. But I’ve been able to look at his process more critically and he’s done many unethical things that I disagree with. I knew he used stencils as a way to talk about mass production, but he does use pre-existing photographs and drawings that he did not make in order to make these stencil bases. Anti-consumerism or not, that is theft of an artist’s property as he did not ask for their permission. And he HAS profited off of these works. The reason why I do not like him anymore is he has used other grafitti artist’s tag works as a platform for his “commentary” and “corrects” anyone who tries to retag his work.  He has also openly discussed how commercial art is bad and I disagree with him because commercial art is how many artists make their livelyhood. He has also been rude to many other grafitti artists on occasion and has made disparaging comments about tagging culture. Other than that he’s a fine sculptor and some of his work is okay. I do think the Dismaland thing is trite because I literally go to school with people who like to draw stuff like this and they think they’re being clever and original.  So while he may have been the “original”, this kind of thing is super common in post modern art (re: Paul Mccarthy, the film Escape from Tomorrow) and it’s becoming a parody of itself - especially since he is using the anticapitalist vehichle to turn over a profit and not really discuss anything ABOUT the nature of capitalism but rather produce a “shocking image” that has as much effect in reconstructing economic theory as an episode of South Park.All I did was post a picture of him that could have easily been found on google. I thought it was funny that he looked unlike what most people picture him as. I didn’t mean for the post to become popular on tumblr or whatever.  I get that you’re a fan of his and I can respect that. Have a good nightbtw i like mother 3, good game
