Old firebolt sketch
drawing fanart of ships ive been obsessing over at some point in my life part 4
HP NERDS
ok this was originally on the end of another post but i need my thoughts listened to so im posting it separately (an it ended up long af lol)
i haven’t read or watched Harry Potter in a while so excuse my (probably) severe ignorance
does the numbering system of the Nimbus broomstick imply that there are literally 2001+ models?? especially considering the Nimbus 2001 looks essentially the same including agility and speed-wise, it’s just sleeker and black. is it literally just pure aesthetic? assumably it’s faster, but Harry literally was able to keep up with Malfoy without too much issue (i think). and what actually compels a broom to move faster? is like a car where there’s just an extra thing you can do to increase speed or is it that you could do the exact same thing on two totally different qualities of broomsticks and end up moving at significantly different speeds? if so, could that make a “better quality” broomstick actually more dangerous due to its inability to move at a slower pace?
also, both seen designs of the Nimbus broomstick have really sleek tails [by which i mean the back of the broom], however the Firebolt -which was meant to be better if i remember correctly- has an incredibly splayed tail. does this affect the quality of the broom? hypothetically, it would make it (even if not by much) less aerodynamic. but depending on how Rowling intended broomsticks to work, it could actually just be an entirely unnecessary feature.
also, the Firebolt has a kind of gold frame thing around the tail [???] of the broom which i assume is a sort of foothold that would 100% benefit the flyer by making it easier to move on the broom without being dislodged/having to hold on so tightly with hands and focusing more on leg grip (which would super benefit Quidich Beaters and Chasers that frequently have to take both hands off of the broom while moving quickly) and in turn make the broom technically “more agile” which would mean it could be advertised as such. is this feature implemented on any other broomsticks or is it a kind of genius development created first by the designers of the Firebolt? would it affect the speed of the broom to add weight to the back?
thoughts on firebolt…

Transformers (Marvel UK) #133
TotH has been in process for 3 years now! It all started from a dream I had on the 2nd of April 2022
These are the very first drawings I ever made of Moriti.
In the years since, many more characters have been added and a lot has still yet to be expanded upon but I'm very happy with the progress I've made :)
RXR reference sheet (companion to this post) + his actual lore and whatnot. He likes to take pictures of the two-headed turtles he finds pretty often and also of signs and car crashes.
[pretty messy because i wrote this the instant after I awoke]
