Headcanon that Ta-Matoran and Ta-Toa are nicknamed fire-spitter in part because some of their Toa are able to produce a napalm-like “saliva” that burns on contact with air. They are able to spit it at targets from a distance, and while the flame is brief it is capable of burning through stone, metal, and even ice. It can cause devastating damage to other biomechanical beings, so it’s considered immoral to use it in combat.
