Weekends are often a time when building activity begins to slow down. The office lights were turned off, the work area began to quiet down, and some people went home with a sense of peace that the annual fire safety audit had been completed.
However, the fire protection system does not stop changing after the audit certificate is issued.
Dust can still accumulate on the detector. The backup battery may be weak. Valve can get stuck. Fire pumps still need to be tested to monitor their condition. Little things like this can happen at any time, even long before the next audit schedule arrives.
Therefore, annual audits are important, but routine maintenance is no less important. Safety systems need to be maintained regularly to keep them ready to work when needed.
