I received an advanced reader copy of The Captive from Ecco via NetGalley, in return for my honest opinion. The Captive by Fiona King Foster is a story about family and survival. Brooke Holland and her family live on a cranberry farm, on the outskirts of town. There’s a federal bounty for a local fugitive, Stephen Cawley- a man from Brooke’s past that she knows too well. Cawley turns up at Brooke’s farm and she is able to temporarily subdue him. Brooke wants to bring Cawley in and claim his bounty, but Milo, Brooke’s husband, isn’t so sure. As Brooke and her family navigate the wilderness, Brooke struggles to keep her past from colliding with her present. This was an action packed, easy read that I enjoyed, however it was violent and gory in parts. The Captive is available today, January 12, 2021.
