There was a fly in the office.

According to the Colonel, the fly was present when he arrived this morning for work, and had not been there the previous day. At first, he ignored it, and let it buzz around the room while he drank his coffee, and looked through today’s to-do list. Half an hour later, the fly hadn’t left, and Roy started to get irritated. Couldn’t it just fly out of the room and bother someone else? He had his door open, and surely his office couldn’t be that appealing.

An hour after he arrived, the fly hadn’t left, and Roy had enough of listening to it buzz around, and waving it away from his empty coffee mug. Since he didn’t have a flyswatter, he’d have to make do. He slid on one of his gloves in milliseconds before standing up, eying the insect to try and predict its flight pattern.

“Now stay still, dammit.”

Alphonse Elric couldn’t have picked a better time to come in. Roy stood in the middle of the room, his gloved hand raised as the fly buzzed past him. He let out a sigh, and took off the glove before putting it back in his pocket.

From the time she was old enough to understand her father had told her if anyone knew of her gifts that they would use her to hurt her people, it was better that Yue stay home and serve her people while her gifts were kept a secret.

But after all she and done and seen, all Sokka had shown her, he was offering for her to leave the only home she had ever known to save the world.

Azula smirked slightly as she glanced over at her brother on the ship, leaning forward and resting her arms against the rails. He was due for a hero’s welcome, everything she had in mind to do when they returned to the Fire Nation. Their father would even be proud to have him home, she figured. But it was the least she could do for her brother, of course.

“You must be excited,” she commented, watching the water as the ship moved through it. “How long has it been since you were last home? Three years?”

It had been raining for days since they left the Northern Water Tribe’s land, and Yue could tell all the grey and wet was starting to get to Sokka. 

While Katara was using the opportunity with the other benders to practice and collect rain water for bending purposes, Sokka remained below deck most of the time.

“I know you don’t like being cooped up,” She said as she watched Sokka pace the small cabin the group shared.
