what. what what what. h? who was going to tell me he has teeth. why does he not have thread? yarn? over all of his face. is it just all really long hair like some alternate reality rapunzel? why are his gums just,,, out.

And then I remembered that there are documented cases of people developing lymphangitis (inflammation of the lymph passages due to infection in a distal site) due to arthropod bites (mosquitoes are arthropods!) so now I'm side-eyeing my hands for tracking marks. I love having medical knowledge.

hi and thank you so much for your question!! this costume was a collaborative effort between myself and my mom. for the tunic, we started with a tunic pattern (i think it was this one but i'd have to double check) and modified the ever-loving hell out of it. it looks nothing like the original now. the materials of the tunic are all strwtchy, and within the collar is some stiff material (idk what it's called im so sorry--it's like made to go inside of garments to add stiffness. stiff interfacing?). i thrifted both pairs of pants as well as the boot bottoms, and the wig is a paula young wig. as for the boot covers, they were patterned off of my calf using the plastic wrap and duct tape method, and then made with faux leather for the outer parts and stretchy material for the inner parts. i plan to replace these with foam boot covers. the first belt of mine was made using no real pattern, just measurements and a plain rectangle cut, and all of the belt was made out of stretchy material. my new and improved belt, however, was made out of some non-patterned stretchy black material for the base, and then I went in with foam for the inner part. glued some dowels together and painted them, shaped some belt loops with a heat gun and painted them. sealed it all, measured and glued the belt loops on, and then threaded the dowel. the dowel is secured with velcro dots (but it needs more added for extra security). i made my headdress with foam clay and acrylic. i inserted eye screws on either side and attached the chains with jump rings. i use crimped bobby pins to keep them in place. lula is the simplest piece! she was made from a simple hand drawn pattern and sewn together like a little pillow, she's just two pieces of material. i requested red thread and most of her body was machine sewn, but a little place was left open to stuff her. i stuffed her, closed her with more red thread, and i went in with acrylic paint--i recommend cardinal red, and any good white will do. her eyes are just little red buttons, perhaps a little too small if im being honest. i didnt feel like sewing them on so i just used some contact cement and they've held like a dream!!! i consider my makeup to be the cherry on top of the cosplay. i focus greatly on eye makeup and contour/highlighting most of all. unfortunately, i don't know if you could get all of this done in a weekend--maybe you can; i dont know you and your capabilities. for us, it took months. if you decide to do this, though, feel free to dm me with any other questions!!
