Found myself watching more Filipino films lately and sharing some of the titles I've seen for the first time in the last few weeks. #Watchlist was a heavy watch because it tackled the government's war on drugs. If Buybust focused on the authorities, this one focused on its impact on the marginalized sector and how they've become pawns to this game. #Birdshot shows the sad reality that the community and the environment don't stand a chance against corruption and power. The reveal at the end was a big shocker as it highlighted the irony of how one's sanctuary can be another's graveyard. #QuezonsGame is such a top-calibre film about President Manuel L. Quezon and how he helped save Jewish refugees from the Nazis. Can't necessarily compare it directly to Heneral Luna or Goyo because it's in a different league on its own. #FindingAgnes was a revelation to me because Jelson Bay headlined it alongside Sue Ramirez. Because Bay is mostly known for his minor comedic roles, I was caught off guard by the storyline that was beautifully told. Reminded me even of Paper Towns because of the puzzles. #ParaSaBrokenHearted was indeed for the broken-hearted. Three tragic love stories that found themselves intertwined as Jackie and Kath share their heartbreaks. There's nothing groundbreaking about it, but this hit the spot for me. #4Days left an impression on me because of how it was shot. Featuring a lot of long exposure shots and single-take scenes, it felt like a visual representation of what self-discovery looks like and how Dereck and Mark's relationship progressed in four separate days. Not quite sure about the closing scene and the message they wanted to communicate towards the end, though. Will definitely explore a lot more local films as I come across them sa suking tindahan. 😅 https://www.instagram.com/p/ChZdao5PmNn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
