"I thought so, I remember how hard it was for you. You were really struggling between this and the yellow light"

"Yeah the yellow light triggered migraines it was awful"

"Anyway I remember when we finished this room thinking 'I hope she doesn't run after this' I was worried it was to much for you"

"It was a lot and hard, but that means a lot to hear. I was terrified back then that I wasn't enough. It means a lot to know even then you really did want me on your team."

We roll back to just after the explosion of the Aventine. That was an intentional gas explosion caused by Batman as the casino had been chosen as a release point for Ra's al Ghul's bioweapon.

Very large explosion.

If you're wondering where the others are, everyone had already split off to cover other potential targets.

Before regrouping in order to find and hit the Shrike.

The Shrike being the ship that holds the computer system containing the computer model of the Wheel of Plagues. Which Oracle can use to find a formula for a cure. An actual one, this time.

The Shrike itself is a ghost ship.

With it having officially sunk somewhere in the Indian Ocean with all hands. But much like Ra's, reports of its demise were premature.

So Huntress, Nightwing, and Robin make their way to the Shrike. Currently five miles south of Bristol Point.

Good thing Nightwing has a boat.

Unfortunately, they lost the element of surprise.

So Robin heads off to handle the matter of the the computer model.

Also a reminder that this storyline was written in 1996, something that becomes more evident in this segment.

'Acres of gigabytes'

So in the original storyline, Oracle hacks into various systems in order to use their memory to find the correct combination for the Wheel of Plagues to get the cure for this new strain of Ebola Gulf A.

Which also includes the Pentagon.

Anyway, for this modern reinterpretation I think we should go with Barbara hacking various systems in order to process everything quicker, including the system of the Gotham CDC Detachment.

Granted, the CDC doesn't seem to have had cloud computing until they started setting up such a system in 2025 but-

Actually, ignore that. I'll handle the subject of the timeframe in a different ask. This "brief explanation" is already long enough.

So yeah, Oracle hacks the CDC for their processing capability since Ra's didn't really bother with optimizing the Wheel of Plagues model.

While this connection was active, Alexin copies the Wheel of Plagues without Oracle noticing as she was busy hacking other places to forcibly add to her volunteer computing project.

At the same time on the Shrike, Robin has to fight to prevent the powerlines from being cut.

In the course of this fight, someone breaks open a gas main.

The powerline gets severed, which it quickly punishes via electrocution.

Thankfully, the processing had just finished right when the power was cut. So they have a cure now.

Oh, and remember that gas main? And the cut power cable letting off sparks?

So the Shrike fucking explodes.

And the concludes the Legacy-

...Wait.

...ah, right.

So, I realized recently that something I love to do is come up with locations/settings/businesses for stories, which I don’t write & never use. But I love them dearly, so am going to share them, that hopefully someone else will get use out of them.

Going to start with my 2 favourites, that have stuck around for years, while others have been forgotten or scrapped!

1. The Sand Witch Bistro/Foodtruck

A beachside establishment, either a food truck or cabana like stall/cantina. A shop that specializes 8n sandwiches of every kind - savoury, sweet, weird, wacky, whatever you want! Also has a selections of “potions” (cool drinks), “magic brews” (alcoholic drinks), & ice creams & popsicles. Occasionally has a “Scoop from the Cauldron” (daily soups).

Mascot is a surfer witch. Young woman in a One piece, likely 60’s era bathing suit (skirts & frills), a floppy witch-sun-hat, & a surf board with a broom painted on it. Surfboard with the broom painted on it is the logo.

Are the owners magic? Is it just a gimmick? Depends on the world it’s set in, I guess!

2. The Lost & Pro-Found (Antique/Thrift Store/Pawn Shop)

Antique store that always seems to have what you need, even if you don’t know it was what you needed. Always has a wild, exotic collection of items, including things you thought you’d never see again. If you need it, if you can’t find it anywhere else, they likely have it, or the next best thing.

Whatever building it’s in, the shop itself is full of dark hardwood, burnished brass & copper fixtures, vintage & antique decor. There’s a wall that, at first glance, seems to be all clocks, but closer inspection reveals most of those are actually large compasses, each pointing in a different direction.

The sign on the front also has the o’s in “Lost” & “Found” replaced with compasses. The o in “Pro” has been replaced with a clock.
