The proposed event will serve as a platform to highlight the advancements made and discuss the challenges faced in implementing sustainable urban development practices. Besides sharing the region's experiences and lessons learned on those relevant issues, the SICA Member States (The Central American Integration System) would like to encourage further engagement of other States, regional groups, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen SICA's efforts to advance and achieve SDG11.
The proposed event will also address the crucial aspect of financing to achieve the objectives of the New Urban Agenda. It will explore innovative financing mechanisms and strategies to support sustainable urban development and the implementation of SDG11 in the SICA region. Additionally, the event will provide a space for dialogue on the importance of public-private partnerships, international cooperation, and the mobilization of resources to ensure the effective implementation of the New Urban Agenda and address the financing gap.
