The twitch of Moriyama’s lips as he attempted to hold back his chuckles made Izuki think that maybe this marriage had more hope than he thought.

While I agree that fandom doesn’t talk about Hagrid enough or give him nearly enough love, I really don’t agree with this post and the sentiment that goes along with it. (the OP tagged it ‘fuck Sirius’ which, okay, seems like there’s some other stuff going on with this post and it’s some Sirius-hate and not just Hagrid-love).

I don’t argue that Hagrid loves Harry a lot, that they are close and that their relationship is important.  But it’s not really a parent-child dynamic, and when it comes down to it, Hagrid really doesn’t function as a healthy parent figure for Harry.  Most of the time, Harry and Ron and Hermione are going out of their way to help Hagrid with his problems, not the other way around.  Hagrid loves them, yes, but these children end up being the ones who are breaking rules to try to help him, a grown adult.  They are the ones dealing with his tantrums and emotional outbursts.  They give him comfort and advice (it’s true he sometimes offers the same, but by my recollection, not as often).  And that’s like, not how parent-child relationships are meant to work.  I’m not articulating this very well, but it’s this dynamic that sometimes parents get into with their kids where they are constantly in crisis and the child is the one doing damage control and worrying about preserving their emotional health, and ends up needing to grow up faster than they should.  Now there’s a lot of other stuff that happened to make Harry grow up too fast, and I don’t think the relationship with Hagrid is abusive in that way because I honestly don’t think Harry thinks of him in that light at all.  He’s a friend, not a parent figure.  But if he WERE a parent figure, those behaviors would be Not Good.
