summary }
JEHAN, a soldier-turned-thief, was content with simply getting by in life as long as he had food in his stomach, a roof over his head, and his quasi-family by his side. When faulty intel led his merry band of thieves to hijacking a prison caravan, what they found was not their promised treasure, but instead, a shivering boy dressed in rags and a steel gray veil shrouding his face.
Enter VASILY, a mysterious boy claiming to be the deposed king of Kossiya who was imprisoned as a child by his uncle. He enlists Jehan’s group to embark on a dangerous journey from the Corps de Fleuris to the glittering courts of Kossiya where he claims to have allies that will help him take back his throne. Jehan is skeptical, but outvoted by his group and tempted by the promises of riches and a life free from thieving, he accepts the job.
Though as the journey goes on and the dangers increase, Jehan and his group begin to wonder if this mission is really worth their lives— and whether or not their client really is who he claims to be.
