The new Ultraman Tiga 1:6-scale action figure from Threezero.  Like the bulk of Threezero’s 1:6 Ultraman line, this figure is based on the Ultraman manga wherein (mostly) ordinary humans wear armored suits that give them powers and abilities approximating those of Ultras.

Just like the other Ultraman figures in the line, Tiga has a light-up color timer and eyes.  In fact, the color timer light on this figure is so strong that when I accidentally passed a magnifying glass in front of it the resulting beam of light burned a hole through my wall.

The figure comes with four pairs of hands, and two really neat guns with moving parts.  The guns can even be combined to make a great big gun.  I’ll have to take a separate set of photos to show them off.

Ultraman Tiga also comes with a honking’ big sword.  Mind you, this is not as big as the sword that came with Threezero’s  Guts the Swordsman figure, but it’s still a nice size.  The sword has a blue edge along the blade, which is a little hard to see in these photos, that gives the sword the appearance of being charged up with energy.

As I have come to expect from Threezero, the figure is very well articulated, and well constructed of die-cast metal and plastic, and not ridiculously expensive.

I wish the figure came with a stand, but it’s balanced enough that it doesn’t really need one for most poses (and stands are pretty easy and cheap to get off eBay).  The wrist connection is a little loose, making it difficult to pose the hand holding an object, but there are lost of little tricks that can fix that.

Overall, I’m very pleased with Ultraman Tiga.  He’s now going to live on the shelf with the other figures from the line: Ultraman, Ultraman ver. 7.2 (aka Ultraseven), and Ultraman Ace.

I hope Threezero gets around to making more Ultraman figures from the manga, or - at the very least - the other two Ultras that have shown up in the anime series based on the manga: Ultraman Jack and Ultraman Taro.

And if they get bored with that, maybe they could talk to Tsuburaya about producing 1:6-scale figures from the live-action Ultra series.  It’s been eight years since Medicom ended its RAH (Real Action Hero) Ultraman line, and it doesn’t seem like Bandai is interested in doing a 1:6-scale line.
