#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel 616 #Scarlet Spider vol. 2 #Scarlet Spider 2012 #Scarlet Spider #Kaine #Kaine Parker #Red Wolf #William Talltrees #Fifty-One #Shooting Star #Victoria Star #Texas Twister #Drew Daniels #Firebird #Bonita Jaurez #I’m sorry but I am about to be Unwell about the progression of these panels #first off I noticed that while the past couple issues have had the panels set against a black background #these panels of Kaine’s Big Hero Moment and Potential Sacrifice are bordered by and set against a white background #there’s the obvious reason that the white just looks better for this big electricity demon #but I also like to think that it could possibly represent the darkness lurking in Kaine’s past and dogging his every step vs.#him getting out into the light where all (including other heroes) can see #then there’s the contrast in the first set of panels of Kaine reiterating that he would much rather live this time around #as opposed to his death-seeking behavior in the path vs. the burning touch (!!! good to see it back) which quite literally marked #his criminal past #and then yeah #that last set of recognizing one probably deserves death for what he’s done but asking clemency so that he could potentially #do more good with his newfound life #makes me absolutely flip my wig

(probably)#finally I always get a kick out of when Kaine is wrestling with his better nature #when he’s about to do something selfless even when he viscerally wants to do something selfish #he sublimates/puts on a tough guy front by blaming (and envisioning bodily harm to) someone else #(shifting the responsibility if you will when he’s actually taking on responsibility himself #something he’s demonstrably uncomfortable with/doesn’t feel worthy of and yet does so anyway)
