hello anon! you’ve got quite the question there. 👀
it depends on which adaptation we’re talking about. in the novel, erik uses pet names for christine (“my sweet”) so he might be more inclined to using pet names. if i recall correctly, raoul doesn’t use much in the book. i imagine that he is used to be the one at the receiving end. in alw’s musical, raoul only uses little lotte and angel while erik just uses dear during the final lair.
also, it really depends on my mood and the story i want to write! 🥴
however, my personal take is: erik is a slut for affection and wants to be called by pet names. god, imagine having someone call you by an endearing name that is not opera ghost or the phantom of the opera. 😳 erik’s already COMBUSTING. and of course, raoul revels in this fact! (see my recent work as an example. 🤧)
but i also think that raoul loves being called pet names too because he has been a baby his entire life and is probably used to them.
in conclusion, they are both cheesy and needy idiots in love. i think it works both ways! 🥺💖
