A Fierce Green Fire
This is a reblog of my 1st blog post of A Fierce Green Fire which was the 1st CIFF Selects at Unity College which happened in September.
A Fierce Green Fire was the first movie we watch for my Documentary Film Class (Doc Film) and my Camden International Film Festival Class (CIFF). We watched the at the Unity College Center for performing arts as Part of the CIFF Selects series at Unity College. I found this film to be very informative and to have a strong message about environmentalism. The movie is very insightful of how environmental movements have grown and changed thru out the our history and the impacts people have had on the environment. A Fierce Green Fire covered everything from the very being to the Love Canal, to The International Whaling Moratorium to new movements like 350.org. The movie provided hope and understanding for people of all levels of environmentalism. One of my favorite quotes from the movie is “Do you care about the air you breath? Then your an environmentalist. Do you care about the food you eat? then your and environmentalist. Do you care about the water you drink? then your environmentalist.” I enjoyed how the movie was put together with many different parts and different people who narrated the movie. it gave it a flow in progression of the film. Since it was cut into different parts it allowed the film to be able to be utilized as a whole and in parts. Each part of the movie was it’s own story and together it told the story of past, present and future of environmental movements. I would recommend watching it in the parts because watching it as a whole could be very long and tedious. I strongly recommend everyone to see this movie wether you sit down and watch the whole 101 minutes or you watch the parts separately it really helps spread awareness to environmental problems.
