#fiddlestone

I am a *really* fidgety person (thus the knitting), and in elementary school my parents gave me a pretty little sculpe stone they'd found in a craft store to fidget with, mostly so I wouldn't keep up my habit of carrying sticky-tack around (good to play with, smelled awful). I hung onto the stone for YEARS to follow—even when I no longer needed it with me all the time, I've always kept it at my desk to toy with when I'm reading or thinking. My hands know every nick and contour of it, and it's one of those little things that I just unconsciously love. It's gone missing once or twice in all that time—including a two-plus year stretch where it ended up having been in the car of a family friend—but it appears to have gone missing again in the last day or so. This is extremely minor in the grand scheme of things, and I know that, but I'm a little sad anyway (and my fingers are itching to play with something). I hope it turns up soon.
