I finally have the time to dignify this with a proper response but YES, very much agreed. 

That opening??? Of Steven welcoming viewers while Andrew cleans the dishes?? So much ‘we’re preparing to have guests over for dinner’ vibes.

Also “Andrew and I, in the kitchen-” “It’s about time!” ?!?!??!!?

Then there’s the classic date vibes going on here.  

Also this? Instinctively reaching out to Andrew while struggling with the heat of the wasabi. And Andrew grabbing him back to support him?? Damn. 

That casual grocery shopping and harmless teasing??? Big fondness energy

Cooking and bantering???? 

Making the decision to BOTH greet their guests together on multiple occasions? 

Somehow getting to exact mischief on not just ONE but BOTH ghoul boys???

In the Sallie House, Shane started interacting with the demon that was ‘supposedly’ infesting the residence AFTER the paranormal investigator guest they had, by requesting for it to turn the flashlight on, and supposedly, it did. (31:33-32:01). Presuming that the supernatural does exist, it would be a curious factor as to why it seemed more active in interacting with them after Shane spoke to it and invited it to do so. 

And then in the Sorrel-Weed Haunted Mansion episode, Ryan only saw what he believed to see AFTER Shane once again requested for the apparition to make their appearance known. (14:57-15:04)

So. Why do the spirits and demons appear more responsive when it’s Shane who’s the one giving them permission instead of goading them like he usually does? 

It’s really difficult to tell that he isn’t entirely human because he just looks like every other tired millennial on a day to day basis. He’s been around long enough to refine his approach/craft. You’ll only be able to know he’s a vampire if he allows you to find out.

He’s able to tell if individuals have hidden illnesses or are experiencing certain feelings by smell alone.

In order to ensure his continued survival, it’s important that he has a continued supply of blood. Therefore he forms bonds that are more rooted in mutualism or commensalism rather than parasitic.

As cold and ruthless as he pretends to be, he still reserves a sense of dignity, warmth and proprietary. While he’s capable of action, it doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t feel some type of way about it.

Standrew:

Steven is the one to first offer him permission to feed, when his hunger refuses to be sated and they’re unable to procure supplies. It demonstrates a large amount of trust from Steven as he’s not fond of pain. The almost foolish readiness in which he trusts Andrew is something that touches him, for all that he pretends it doesn’t. 

The first time Andrew bites him, it’s on the inside of his wrist. Steven flinches when he feels skin part ways under the force of unyielding teeth, but he’s distracted from it when Andrew closes his lips around the bite mark and draws blood to the surface by suckling hard. 

They make eye contact and Steven forgets to breathe for a hot minute because instead of the poised control Andrew usually has, there is fire and flint in the way he looks at him. It crawls within his skin and Steven feels alive. Burning all over, not unpleasantly so.

He goes to bed with the memory of red sticking to Andrew’s lips, like he’s wearing lip stick. The tickle of teeth and sensations remain long after Andrew heals the mark by smoothing over it with his tongue

He shivers whenever he remembers how he licks the remnants off without breaking eye contact  

Oh I definitely got your gist, anon. And I very much approve.

It’s no surprise that Shane likes to tease. Presuming that he is in fact a demon, what could be more demon-like behavior than to dangle a delicious morsel in front of others, to taunt and tease all while knowing that none of them could ever come as close to Ryan as he could because Ryan is his? Demons may not have morals but they do follow a hierarchy and what better reason would he need to get rid of others than them attempting to take what he had already claimed?

There may be many feeding sources that spirits, cryptids and demons can tap into but fear and anger are always the most satisfying. Even to someone like myself, who isn’t able to experience a proper range of emotional consistency/intensity, fear is absolutely delicious. 

There’s something enthralling about being able to listen and look into others. To be so close, you can almost feel what they feel. In a way, the adrenaline rush and biological reaction fear induces in others is so intense that it even affects people around you. It almost makes you feel more alive. Maybe that’s what the spirits, demons and cryptids chase. The feeling of being. And Shane, he has the exact resources and conditions he wants.

Ryan makes him feel human in more ways than one. Shane looks at him and finds nourishment. He finds a breath of fresh air. It’s only natural that he wants to latch on. It’s only natural that he wants to preserve, to guard and continue holding on. If he was a demon, he’d be attracted to that and slowly but surely, come to appreciate the many facets of Ryan Bergara beyond feeding from him.

Anyone who tries to foolishly take all that away from him has another thing coming. They may seek permission. If Shane is charitable, he may even share a little of Ryan’s energy with others. But at the end of the day, Ryan is his. His to covet, to cherish, to hold close.

And no one should ever make the mistake of forgetting that.

The topic of Andrew becoming a co-host for Wo/rth It comes up at some point in the early beginnings of their collaboration with one another. Andrew is the one to bring it up, with the intention of thanking Steven for bringing him on board because manners, you know. Even though he has ‘no idea’ how this all happened still. 

Steven casually replies “Hey no problem, man. I like food, You like food and I like you so it all works out.” And the both of their brains record scratched for one whole moment before they started growing more flustered around each other.

Steven listens to audio book recordings each night just so he can quiet down his thoughts and relax enough to sleep. One night while exploring new selections, he chances across a particular book that he thinks he might enjoy. He quickly learns that he likes listening to the particular reader’s voice as much as he does the book. 

Over the course of time, he starts listening to more and more recordings of other readings the person has done. There’s just something about the cadence, their intonation, the dips and flows of their reading that soothes even the most frantic corners of his thoughts. Of course being curious, as all humans are, he entertains the brief imaginative thoughts of what the reader is like.
