#fictional fatphobia

We're now opening submissions to examples of fat discrimination and thin privilege in literature, television, movies, music, video games, comics, and anywhere else -- as long as it's a fictional story based on fictional characters.

The fiction and art a society creates often reflects its biases, bigotries, and institutional forms of discrimination. And since we've had so many troll submissions trying to use fictional stories as a way to discredit the non-fictional contributions to this blog, I figured it was time to publish stories like that for what they are: examples that support the existence of fat discrimination and thin privilege, not that discredit it. 

Rules of submitting fictional stories: 

1. Please state the name of the work and the characters that are involved in the example of fat discrimination/thin privilege. 

2. Please describe how the example is thin privilege or fat discrimination.

3. Please link to the episode/story/etc on IMBD or Wiki or some other recap site.

Any contributions that don't follow these rules will be deleted.

I went to the hospital to visit my friend after she gave birth, and I was in the waiting room. Suddenly, a little boy came up to me and did a rude little dance, saying "You're a fatty fatty fat- fat- fat- fatty!"

Amazed and hurt, I turned to the father of this boy (who was nearby)  and asked, "What's your son doing?"

The father was wearing a white coat, so I assume he was a doctor at the hospital. Anyway, he was like "That's his fatty dance. Rude? Maybe. But I'm teaching my son to be a straight shooter." 

No wonder doctors are so hateful toward fat people, they even teach their children to be fatphobic! I felt so triggered that day that I couldn't even go see my friend, I just had to be out of that fatphobic hospital.

Thin privilege is justifying your child's hateful, oppressive behavior. I really hope the poor child is able to see the light and become a decent human being. 

Mod note: Or, it's an episode of Scrubs that's relying on the rampant and well-known fatphobia not just among doctors but the population at large to make a joke that everyone who lives in this fatphobic culture immediately understands.

So -- it proves how deeply woven fat discrimination and thin privilege are in our societal fabric.

Also -- congrats! By submitting a fatphobic story based on a fictional show you are A Shitty Person. Proud? Shitty people usually are proud of their shittiness. That's part of what makes them shitty.
