2: What scene did you first put down?

Oh, oh, oh! I actually have notes on my phone notepad that I could actually find by searching "shower"

The first part is "grocery store. barbas is full of sweets" and is a rather linear after that so I think I must have actually started when they are both shopping.

(on same list is the christmas story that got abandoned then rewritten, rafael catholic guilt story and ... i think this must be same story, and that I didn't include it but "vomited into a bucket. sonny was obviously completely insane or deviant because it hadn't put him off." I have no idea what the first line on this means, though, "Mandy spk- he bored abc reading book")

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

My absolute favoruite line hasn't been published yet and is way, way too spoiler to share so my second favourite.

He could make anyone who paid for his time feel like the world had collapsed into just the two of them. He could love, hate, chase, or be chased. He could be tender or aloof, worshipful or withholding. If he hadn’t become an escort, Daniel Day-Lewis would be waking up with night terrors of Rafael perched on his chest, holding an Oscar.

5: What part was hardest to write?

Anything that included me reading the American Bar Association Model Rules of Professional Conduct and then hoping to God I understood it correctly. Oh, and for some reason the arrest scene. It took me forever and I'm still not happy with it but my head was just not cooperating with me that day.

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

When I joined the story it was fully formed by the marvelous @capekelpie. Anything good here is by them, the outline is beautiful! So I pass the question over to @capekelpie

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

God, he just wanted everything to stop for him. Just finally stop. If he had a magic genie's lamp, he would use it to beat Marić to death.

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

“Go. Now. I’m serious. I don’t have time for these childish games.”

“Your childish games included hoop and stick and losing your seventh sibling to cholera."

7: Where did the title come from?

It was a placeholder for months (I struggled writing this one so it was in drafts forever) and I was like, I want a "revenge best served cold" nod but I need to think of a cold dish other than gazpacho and just threw in "and other cold dishes" as the doc name and then after repeatedly looking at it, I actually ended up preferring it as a title.

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

I ended up cutting several scenes to keep the story within an M rating. Luka’s arc was originally much darker, the videos were significantly heavier, and Barba walked even closer to the fire. Most notably, there was an entire Sonny/Luka scene that clocked in at over 1,000 words, but it was just too grim and tonally off from the rest of the story. I trimmed about 900 words from it to better match the overall vibe.

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

There was not but I am certain, certain it was a prompt sent by anon (which disappeared) and it took me months and I thought of one joke and just kept noting down jokes when they occured to me before I wrote it. But it was the original title for The Mercy Seat!

Readers really liked some other parings like barba/huang and olivia/gunther so jw

Originally, this was only meant to be a one-shot for Whumptober. But the story kept nagging at me andI kept turning it over in my head, expanding it in little daydreams and entertaining myself with no real plans to ever actually write it. Then I decided to at least try Chapter 2… and I completely fell in love with writing these it. It's my favourite to write!

In regards to Barson, I was drawn to the idea of two very different people who are both confident and in charge in their own worlds, yet feel completely unmoored in this cruel new one. George (one of my absolute favourite characters in SVU) was originally just going to be a member of Rafael’s crew, but the dynamic between them just… went there on its own, and I let it. It’s been really fun to see people shipping Gunther and Olivia, too, that was never my intention at all! It’s kind of cool watching readers create their own versions of the story and ship characters I hadn’t even considered pairing. Like being on the other side of the looking glass for once.

23. fics you wanted to write but didn’t

Awww thank you my lovely for sending this in. This was challenging, but fun because I had to go back and see exactly which fics I wrote exclusively this year, so that was fun. I do feel hugged and I hope you feel hugged in return!

1. Favourite fic you wrote this year?

- This was sooooooo hard because each fic I wrote this year pushed me in different ways and I really enjoyed learning and pushing myself, but the one that probably has to take top spot is With You I Can Bloom Again because not only did I get the "excuse" to teach myself something I had always wanted to I got to write for the best ghost ship! Runner up is probably Paint Me With Your Story just because of tattoos and length.

12. Favourite character to write about this year?

- UGH! This is literally asking me to pick a favourite child and you know that is impossible! I wrote for so many characters this year and each one let me explore new things, and a few pushed me out of my comfort zone, so really it's all of them - for the the sake of the game it's a 3-way tie between Ji Woo/Kang Gook/Shu Yi (possibly related to the fact that I really unleashed ALL the feels on them >.> <.<)

23. Fic's you wanted to write but didn't?

- *looks at WIPs/prompts/ideas* all of them? Uh probably the 2 that I am the most sad I haven't been able to finish or get to a posting point is the one for Da-on because honestly this boy deserves a fic just for himself and I have so so so many feels for him. The other is the To My Star fic that I've been piecing together slowly - this one is the hardest because it isn't writing itself in a specific order so I can't even post the pieces because they won't make sense until it all comes together.
