Harin knows heās out of his depth the second he walks into the store, and realizes the extent of his knowledge about plants is the ability to classify things as tree, not a tree, and flower. Itās kind of a sad realization to arrive at now, since none of the cute signs pointing out the layout of the store have any of those words on them ā so he gives a quick greeting to the shop assistant, and begins the start of an aimless shuffle past the neat rows of potted friends, hoping somethingās going to catch his eye.
What actually ends up happening, though, is something catches his ear.
At first, Harin thinks someone is trying to talk to him, but the voice is a little quiet. When he looks up, thereās only a girl standing a little too far away from him for the words to be meant for him ā maybe sheās talking on her phone? Ah, well, itās clearly not meant for him, and he shakes his head, laughing at himself for his self-centered assumption.
Harinās attention drifts back to the plant in front of him, some odd thing with long tendrils spilling over the edge of the pot, when he hears the girlās voice again. He canāt help but glance up again, and this time ⦠wait. Sheās ⦠did she just ⦠it kind of looked like she was talking to the plant just now, if heās not mistaken.Ā Ā
Huh.
Well, maybe thatās the way to get insights on which plant to buy? Harin raises an eyebrow, but curiosity has gotten the better of him ā itās somewhere between amusing and cute, he decides, that sheās in here trying to strike up a conversation with a succulent.
āI hope Iām not interrupting,ā he says, feeling very much like heās interrupting as he takes a curious step closer. āDo they ever talk back?ā
