Hi! I love all your sasusaku work but especially For Everything There Is A Season (it’s the only reason I log onto AO3 every month now). Will you be updating that soon? I’ve just been so invested in that story since you first posted. Thanks!
I really appreciate the way you asked this question. You were super sweet and not at all pushy, so thank you.
First off, I want everyone to know that For Everything There Is a Season is NOT abandoned. I will definitely return to it, and I do have a good idea of where it’s going and how it will end.
However, I’m very unhappy with certain aspects of both it and In Times of Peace. I’m about halfway through a rewrite of ITOP, and once I finish that, I’ll do the same with FETIAS. There won’t be any major changes, and nothing essential to either story will be cut. It’s mostly a matter of cleaning up awkward and repetitive language, replacing Japanese words (that I didn’t fully understand ugh) with English counterparts, and tweaking moments where Sasuke or Sakura now feel out of character. Sasuke saying “Sakura-chan” in ITOP haunts me 😂 just tbh.
On top of that, I’m probably going to need to take some personal time to recover from my divorce before I return to FETIAS. The reason I went on hiatus from FETIAS in the first place is that I had some personal irl issues crop up that mirrored some of the conflicts in the story, and working on it became triggering. Now that I’m leaving my spouse, working on a story in which Sasuke and Sakura’s marriage dissolved would likely not be safe for me at the moment.
I’m confident that once I’ve had a chance to heal I can return to it. That story is very important to me for a number of reasons, and I hope that whenever I’m able to get back to that fic that I can deal with some of my trauma by writing on it.
