Will this rain ever cease?
Weary eyes focused upward, stormy clouds passing overhead like billows of smoke rising from the ashes of a world Senketsu had only just begun to know. After Ragyo Kiryuin's defeat, the rest of the world continued on as if nothing happened, but those who were responsible for Earth's continued survival in the universe were mourning for those they had lost.
Ryuko Matoi paid the ultimate price in the end, a price that was apparent on that fateful day when Senketsu fell back to earth, his cries for Ryuko echoing through the atmosphere. Everyone at Honnouji Academy heard his voice, and would continue to from then on, though the anguish they heard during his descent wouldn't fade. After a brief moment of realization among his allies, Senketsu fled the scene. In his heart, if he possessed such a thing, he felt that it was he who should have been sacrificed. The heartbreak in Mako's eyes, the shattered look on Satsuki's face...he couldn't bear to remain with them. He was responsible.
Months passed. Senketsu remained in hiding, only occasionally raiding the Mankanshoku back-alley clinic's blood stores for sustenance. In order to venture out into the streets of Tokyo, Senketsu developed a new, humanoid transformation. Though he had to wear clothing to hide the majority of his form from the public eye, he was becoming more brave, venturing out, trying new things. There was little joy in this, however.
Today was no time for exploration, though. The kamui had a specific mission in mind, something that needed to be done. Wearing a large black zip up hoodie with the hood up to hide his face, and jeans on his lower half, Senketsu made his way to the Kiryuin Estate. From what he gathered, Satsuki was living there, though he was willing to bet she didn't intend to stay in that home any longer than she needed to. In passing once before, peering through the gates, he saw what appeared to be a memorial shrine.
It had to be Ryuko's.
The hour was late, grey skies hastening the darkness that was soon to settle in. He didn't want to intrude like this, but if there was a place he could go to mourn Ryuko, he needed to visit it...even if it was just this once. Passing through the gates of the manor was no problem at all, Senketsu could manipulate his size and shape on command now. Squeezing through metal bars was a simple act. He quickly made his way off the beaten path towards the entrance, and off to the small garden where Ryuko's memorial was.
Pictures, trinkets, and all sorts of memories were placed at the shrine from past visitors. Senketsu had nothing to give, he was unfamiliar with these human customs.
Quietly, he knelt at the shrine and bowed his head, closing his eyes tight. He didn't pray, praying was useless. Instead he listened to the rain. It reminded him of the shower of blood that soaked the Naked Sol after Ryuko ripped Junketsu off of her. So much determination in her petite figure.
"Ryuko...I'm sorry for picking on you about your waistline..."
Ugh...that's not what I should say...
Tears filled the kamui's eye as he could picture Ryuko scolding him for being so inappropriate. He should be begging for forgiveness, pleading for her to come and take his place among the living.
"I'm sorry I failed you, Ryuko..."
