Snow Blind Trailer - Thoughts
"Once upon a time, you all lived together. Then the wars came." Kano starts this off like a kids' story, which is interesting - like he's recounting it to someone. Which is interesting, because we know they like to splice things in deceiving ways in the trailers, so... is this a story Kano is telling to someone that is not the viewers? To a crowd, or even to his never-named-or-alluded-to-but-in-the-MKX-arcade-ending son? Probably a crowd, but you never know. Makes sense with the "Legends" structure, though.
This gives me LOTS of India and Nepal vibes. Mountains in the prior scene, prayer flags in the next, but the clothing isn't. And it makes me wonder...
Are we even in Earthrealm at all?
But then again, if we *aren't* in Earthrealm, when did Outworld start getting propane tanks? Are these leftovers from Kano's Black Dragon Mad Max shenanigans?
But then we get a later "let's protect Earthrealm, and end this right now" - so... again, I am wondering.
Was that merger from Battle of the Realms ("before the wars") more successful than we know? What chunks were left merged? We don't ever see EARTHREALM after the end of BotR, OR what happened to Shang Tsung... we see only Outworld, and while that spawned an unpublished side project for me, I also wonder if we're seeing the result of years of attrition and fighting what stuck around and stayed.
Does seem hinky to me Sonya wouldn't be there to murder Kano wherever he was (holding out my heart for a cameo), but I am hopeful for the Black Dragon to get a chance to be evil badasses. It's been too long.
