Grief: Noire’s father in the future died when she was still too young to even remember what his face looked like. But she saw the photos, her mother kept them in a corner with candles and prayer books. Noire remembered seeing her mother kneel before the pictures and sob when she thought no one was looking, and Noire promised herself that she would one day try to stop this from happening somehow or at least try to lessen the sorrow her mother had. She kept that in the back of her mind all those years that her mother abused and neglected her.
