I love Ascendance of a Bookworm because of Ferdinand. Not in a thirsty way but because he's the funniest character ever written.
He puts on this front of cold rationality and logic and then you learn that actually his internal monologue is extremely emotional and he's an extremely petty person who makes up bullshit excuses for everything he does so no one questions it.
Just, for example, taking in Myne and folding to all of her demands? He acts like it's for mana and money only for the big reveal that, actually, he just wants to learn more about her family that loves each other as opposed to his shitty abusive upbringing.
He's also, just, really bad at human interaction. Formulaic socializing with something to gain? Sure. Interacting with others as a person? Not so much.
Part 5, in particular, really drives that point home. Ferdinand is out here playing with an engaged woman's hair and riding around with her on his highbeast and then seems genuinely confused when everyone gets annoyed with him.
That scene where he throws a tantrum and walks out because everyone seems uncomfortable with how familar he's acting with a woman engaged to a prince by royal decree? Hysterical.
When he sees the blessing at the castle and takes off at the speed of sound to make sure Rozemyne is ok and then just, fucking, makes awkward small talk before leaving? I was cackling.
When Rozemyne tells him that Hannelore is pushing for their engagement and he just. Thanks her for the info and walks off?
My boy is trying his hardest and it's just barely good enough.
