I've been getting a few messages asking me what they can do to help out with Ferguson wherever they are, be it on the other side of the world, or continent. What you can do is not forget. /Remember/ what you were doing today, remember the feelings when the announcement that Darrell Wilson would not be indicted. Most of all remember that Michael Brown was not the only victim. That the Brown family are not the only ones that have suffered and will suffer. Remember the names of Treyvon Martin, Tray Rice, Vonderitt Myers (only a few in a long list). Don't let them fade into the background, only to remember that Black Kid who was shot because he had a BB gun that wasn't even pointed at an officer, of that one guy who was killed by George Zimmerman - the Hispanic guy who fired a gun at his wife/girlfriend, and don't forget the boy who was shot eight times, who died begging for his life, because the police officer presumed he had a weapon when he put his hand in his waistband, and instead of verifying whether he was armed, allowed this young man to die begging for his life.

Remember the victims; remember the fact that the black police officers that have been seen standing against the Ferguson riots are victims, too. They have not been allowed to hand in their badges. That they are as much victims of this situation of a police force that is in NO WAY OBLIGATED to protect the people, but serve the government.

Remember the victims, and remember to educate those who may not understand the current situation. Never allow the perpetrators to overcrowd the story, to be the most well-known part of the story. Educate and inform, pass on this story to those who haven't heard. Ignorance begets hate, and we've had enough of that. Educate yourself, too — do not be afraid to listen to what others have to say. Broaden your horizons, and keep your eyes, ears and mind open.

And, lastly, do not be afraid to raise your voice the next time you see or hear an injustice. Be it as small as keeping quiet the next time somebody makes a racist, sexist or homophobic joke, or as big as spamming your Facebook newsfeed the next time something troubling happens. Something you are not okay with. Raise awareness and your voice, and don't be afraid to hear another person's version of events. Because once we're all united, we can make a difference.
