So I wanted to try drawing older ferb in my style, and decided I should draw some of the others as well and started with isabella, after which I decided I actually didn't feel like drawing anyone else

BUJEET MY BELOVED and lowk... I kinda love Ferbella bc it makes me laugh to think about her switching up like that, and they're my favs, so. They're supposed to be platonic here but it can be interpreted however you want!

Who do you think Isabella and her friends are talking to? Which fireside girl messed up her hair?

Also, did anyone catch the House md meme that i snuck in?? Idk how much overlap there is between the pnf and house md fandoms. LMAOOOO I hope there's tons of us that would be so funny

I hadn’t drawn in a long time and I wasn’t feeling super confident enough to start again, but seeing other amazing artists bring them to life made me want to try again

Thanks very much! And yeah, I enjoy Ferbella. I at least enjoy it more so than I enjoy Phinbella for reasons I suppose I'll share again now, although I'm sure that'll get tiring.

I don't see Ferbella as kids or even as teenagers. For me, Ferb and Isabella make sense and are optimally compatible when the gang are grown up - when Isabella has been given a chance to try Phineas on for a stint, and perhaps learned more about herself and what she wants from an adult relationship. We're never given concrete reasons why Isabella crushes on Phineas, but we can glean that she finds him VERY cute and admires him for his intelligence and spontaneity. The big hiccup of course is that Phineas is SO intelligent and spontaneous that he misses her advances at every turn. He doesn't notice feelings like that. It's a skill that he has to work on, not inherent to his nature. Phineas sees the big picture, which is admirable... but it leaves him emotionally UNavailable.

You know who's intelligent, spontaneous AND emotionally available? Yeah, we all know.

I've said before that I don't think Phineas is really designed for a serious relationship, but Ferb is 100% more that kinda speed. He's solemn but flirty, and shows devotion through acts of service and thoughtful gestures. We already know that Ferb is entranced by witty, determined and beautiful girls a la Vanessa, and Isabella fits the bill perfectly. She's badass, and nobody can tell me that Ferb wouldn't be interested. The difference here is that Isabella has less shame than Vanessa by what I'd guess is a wide margin. Isabella isn't one to cringe away from mushy-gushy feelings for fear of appearing less strong - as Vanessa probably would (albeit V probably grows out of that after her teens).

You see what I'm getting at here? Isabella, too, is more emotionally available than Ferb's other romantic interest.

That's why I think they work. Not as a "steal your heart away" romance. Not as a "swept off your feet" fling. Rather, Ferbella works as two strong, supportive and smart individuals who look at each other one day after YEARS of being in the same friend-group and realize, out of the blue: Hey... you might accidentally be what I'm looking for.

Maybe a relationship works out for them, for the long term. Maybe they only date for a few short months, just to realize that they don't have the chemistry they hoped for. I don't know.
