Given everything poor Felix goes through -- and has been through -- in the Bloodline story of DG, Walking In My Shoes is the most character-perfect song there is. Lyrically speaking, (in my head) the entire song encapsulates him and how he feels about being a vampire in general, let alone about himself. He has a contempt toward vampires who are happy with their lives and with those who haven't experienced the torture, heartbreak and betrayal that he's done... But he doesn't particularly want to talk about those things either, and WIMS has that sort of contemptuous tone to the vocal and lyrics that match up perfectly with that aspect of him. In my mind, the atmosphere of the music sort of gives an idea of what's in his head and I see the strings in particular as a kind of leitmotif for him.

"you can't change yourself through changin' scenery the rear view reminds us where we've been..." -- from headed west by senses fail. I use this song as a reference to how Felix desperately wants to go back to a time before he was turned (without consent) by his ex, Theo, and tries to escape his tumultuous past... but ultimately can't because of Theo's unexpected return into his life.
