Little headcanon of mine: some Felinids can manifest natural deeply-coloured pigmentations around the arch of the eyes, of the same striking metallic hues of butterfly's. These patches grow in intensity and coverage with the age of the individual, and Canids that go through HRT, can also grow the iridescent pigmentation. Since Felinids and Canids usually have earthy, brownish and pitch colours, these iridescent patches were once seen socially as a sign of great beauty and uniqueness for Felinids and Canids, that provoked in the past ages a spreaded use of bleaching and diying of the fur around the eyes to emulate this uncoventionally coloured skin/fur marks.

With time this expensive and detrimental fashion fell, and in the Etherium's present times the Felinids/Canids cosmetic look focuses more on temporary makeups, through the use of pencils and liquid pigments that emphasise the eyelids and eyelashes. In the recent times even tattoo art resurfaced, made with white or redd-ish inks, usually applied where fur is sparser; that is to say, on the inside of the ears, that get tattooed with intricate-thin designs that emulate patterns of blooming crowns of veins and upturned trees' roots. I like to think that Amelia's ears originally hadn't that graysh-brown tip and that she got them tattooed during her years in the Royal Interstellar Academy. A simple draw, yet notable.
