mentioned  in  a  previous  thread  , pip  broke  her  arm  in  tenth  grade  .  fifteen  with  a  literal  broken  bone  (  two  ,  actually  )  &  being  told  that  she  can’t  go  to  the  hospital  .  because  ,  ‘  philippa  kwon  –  do  you  know  how  much  an  ambulance  costs  ?  are  you  aware  of  how  much  we’ll  be  charged  just  to  stay  in  the  emergency  room  –  to  get  an  x - ray  ?  ’  .  by  miracle  ,  their  neighbor  –  an  old  war  vet  was  able  to  fix  her  up  nicely  –  but  that  was  one  lucky  time  .  the  sad  part  about  being  in  the  kwon  household  –  injuries  are  common  ,  but  she’s  never  been  to  the  hospital  .  so  ,  pip  knows  how  to  patch  herself  up  for  almost  every  kind  of  injury  –  but  only  because  she  really  had  no  other  choice  .

     busy,  blurry  things  –  she  talks  with  them,   she  drums  with  them  when  sat  still  more  than  a  minute.   hard  to  find  them  not  in  motion,  but  easy  to  hold  on  to;    they’re  small,  like  the  rest  of  her.  not  as  soft  as  you  might  expect  from  something  so  little.   years  of  falling  in  the  dirt  &  cutting  them  on  fences  has  seen  to  it.  a  small  scar  ( *  hardly  noticeable  as  it’s  faded  to  age  )  rests  on  the  bottom  right  of  her  palm,   attests to  fun  with  fire.     grabby  towards  friends,  certainly.    excitement  makes  them  hard  to  control,   and  whether  they’re  coming  down  on  a  shoulder  or  grasping  wrists,   it’s  nothing  delicate.  they’re  not  made  for  gentle  things,    they’re  made  for  the  callous  of  adventure.
