On Sept 12-14th 2024 the next Fediforum unconference will be held. Fediforum is:
The unconference
for the people
who move
the Fediverse forward.
It is held entirely online and this Fall will be on a Thurs, Friday and Saturday. Past Fediforum's have been two days long and have been entirely during the work week. This change will hopefully allow some people who haven't been previously able to participate to join in. As an unconference the agenda is set by the attendees - anyone can propose of topic and pick a time from amongst the time slots of the event and then anyone who wants to join that session will be able to join it. And you are encourage to leave one discussion and join another if you are done with it or you want to check out other discussions - that cross pollination is inherent into how good unconferences run.
I have been to many of the past Fediforums and will probably try to attend some of this upcoming one. I've run many unconferences in the past and the organizers of Fediforum are highly experienced unconference facilitators and the event draws a great group of people shaping the future of the Fediverse.
If you are unfamiliar with the Fediverse it is perhaps most well know by being the network that Mastadon connects to but there are dozens of other software (many dozens) that work with the Fediverse. Threads from Meta is integrating with the Fediverse. Flipboard is building deep integrations with the Fediverse into its social magazines with hundreds (perhaps now thousands) of them already integrated into the Fediverse.
