A couple of months ago now I bought my first film camera, a FED 2 - a pretty great and absolutely beautifully constructed Russian camera from the mid 1950s. Up until now I have been using traditional black & white film, I like the tradition of it - but getting it developed can take up to 10 days in most high street photo shops, and I don't have the money or skills to develop it myself yet. These photos are from my first roll of C41 black and white film, it's mostly like normal black and white except your regular 'one hour photo' places can develop it much like they would colour - its also cheaper. I got this film developed and put on a CD in one hour for £3 - Thats a pretty good deal. Im still not totally sold on the C41 film though, I can't really describe it, there's just something missing compared to regular black and white. I think I need to do more experimentation. Over all I quite like it though, I also have a new lens for my FED 2 coming in the mail too, its collapsable - it pushes into the camera when I'm not using it, so it should make it easier for me to take my camera around with me and so hopefully should lead to some more interesting photographs!
Have any opinions regarding black and white and C41? If so I'd love to hear from you!
