28 Days of Yale Alumni Gatherings: Feb Club Emeritus
While Yale University has social media accounts administered by its central communications department, there aren’t accounts just for facilitating interaction among Yale alumni. That makes the digital media accomplishments of a project called Feb Club Emeritus all the more remarkable.
In its sixth year, Feb Club Emeritus encourages alumni worldwide to host gatherings echoing the on-campus tradition of daily parties to survive the bleak cold February weather. The effort is led completely by volunteers, and by the one hundred or so hosts who arrange parties.
For alumni engagement Feb Club is a winner for several reasons:
Involves all graduation years, all affiliations; no geographic limitations
28 days of chances to engage alumni (i.e. long enough, but not too long)
Relatively minimal overhead (aside from receiving and posting the event announcements, for which we are extremely thankful to tireless dedicated volunteers)
For 2013 there will be over 100 events worldwide. Tune in to see how the conversation flows (#febclub on Twitter and Instagram, or the recap in progress at http://storify.com/YaleAlumni/feb-club-emeritus-2013 ) and let’s hope people share photos other than of Mory’s cups.
