I was cleaning up her retainer inventory and found the two free fantasias. My cohost on A Podcast Reborn recently temporarily fantasia’d his own main, so I decided to come up with something to use mine for.
I decided I’d play through the 6.1-6.3 MSQ as another race, and let a few folks from our Discord decide exactly what.
They picked Elezen. I had the character model data for Veilette saved, so I used that. She looks lovely.

Some side by side comparisons of a few of the level 60 AF sets and their recolors available from the Trophy Crystals vendor, along with the level 80 Gunbreaker set and it’s equivalent from the same vendor.
The Trophy Crystal sets are
1. Immediately dyable
2. Appear to be of a higher texture quality than their AF counterparts (you all may need to confirm this for me, to me they look better, but my eyes are best described as “hot garbage”)
3. Pretty easy to farm from Crystalline Conflict.
The Dyeable factor isn’t a huge deal for the ARR and HW jobs, all of whom get their level 60 sets dyeable straight out of the gate now (and can upgrade the older items to the dyeable versions using only poetics). Likewise, it’s pretty easy to get the Sage and Reaper AF sets dyable already, since they come from completing the role quests
But for Red Mage/Samurai, who have to grind their dyable level 70 AF sets out of Eureka, and Gunbreaker/Dancer, who have to farm an EX trial for dyable versions of their 80 AF sets? These are a Twelvessend.
I am going to be spending a lot of time in this PvP mode trying to get the Gunbreaker and Red Mage sets for Rheika and the Dancer set for Fearless (speaking of that, look for another post soon for a preview of how she looks in it, cause that recolor is just sexy on her).
For upon thy life’s reel wind too many threads. Of Fate. Power. Weal, enmeshed with woe. More terrible still is the attrition wrought upon thy companions, as they are swept up in the storm of thine existence.
Take heart and protect them well. They will be your strength and your salvation.
After willing the nightmare to end for what seemed like an eternity, Aleister’s eyes finally opened.
A comforting weight was resting on him, arms wrapped around his body. Someone was holding him. Gwenefyr. She was weeping softly, and he raised his arms to return her embrace. She cried out in joy and cried harder.
“Thank goodness, he’s finally awake!” Alphinaud’s voice. A sound of running feet, crunching in the snow. He looked up to see everyone, the Scions, Maxima, Lucia, his fellow Warriors of Light, all rushing to gather around him.
Rheika reached him first and she knelt down next to him, ruffling his hair. “Welcome back, Old Man”
He could only smile and nod as he bent forward to whisper loving soothing sounds to Gwen.
When she finally calmed down a couple of minutes later, he raised his head to address the others. “Is everyone all right? Please tell me that lunatic didn’t kill someone with my body.”
Everyone shook their heads, but it was G’raha who verbalized it first. “Everyone is perfectly fine. I hope the same can be said of you”
Aleister mumured something into Gwen’s ear, and she immediately began to stand, assisting him to do the same. Nothing felt particularly sore or in any pain, really. He examined himself, stretching a couple of limbs. It all felt well enough.
“Everything in working order?” asked Alisaie.
“Seems like it, but I doubt I’m going to be doing anything before Gwen can scan the heck out of me, so if something IS wrong, we’ll all know soon enough.”
“You’re damn right about that, mister” Gwen said from his side, still clinging to his arm.
Fearless stepped forward. “We…think we pieced together what happened. Fandaniel teleported you away in the chaos of the temperings, then….removed you from your body so Zenos could steal it and threaten us with….a voidsent. I’m not sure I get that last part tho.”
Aleister clenched his head as the memories came unbidden
Gwen’s voice pulled him out of it. Her voice always could, even before.
Dahkar was at his other side, holding him up against the sudden dizziness that was threating to debilitate him. “Easy, old man. I gotcha. You think you’ll be all right, now?”
Aleister had to sigh. “No. Not right now. That bastard used me to kill for him. Maybe one day, but I don’t know if I’ll be entirely all right for a long time.”
“Given recent events, I would be surprised if you were.” Y’shtola piped up. Her face was grim, Aleister looked to her and knew from her countenance. She blamed herself for saying nothing. She had seen his aether was wrong but realized far too late what it meant. She forced a smile for him. “Under normal circumstances, I would suggest a hearty meal and some rest to start your recovery process, but these are anything but, if Fandaniel’s boasts are to be believed.”
Franks snarled at the mention of the Ascian.
“Loathe as I am to suggest this, pray focus on your anger. It may help you clear away the cobwebs. Once you feel ready enough, we can discuss our assault on the Tower of Babil”+
“No.”
“….what?”
“I said no. I’m not going with you.”
The whole of the Scions turned to him in shock.
“Come on, Old Man, what’re you talking about? We need you.” Dahkar’s voice was concerned.
“No, you don’t. Not for this. The amount of warriors here is more than sufficient to put an end to that tower. What we are sorely lacking in now is information. Information I can gather.”
He looked down to the snow. “The fact is….I am not at a hundred percent right now, mentally. If I go in there with you….I can’t guarantee my usual degree of skill. So, Rheika? Take Gwen with you in my stead. Yes, she doesn’t have the Blessing, but she’s been fighting for nearly as long as I have, and you’ve all seen how quickly she’s taken to those nouliths. She’s more than capable of standing with you all.”
Alphinaud’s face was still shocked. “But…what will you be doing? What avenues do you plan to pursue?”
“You all saw what he used to attack G’raha, Alisaie, and Gwen with. Plus, he had a new weapon. Some kind of scythe. It looked odd, Partially magitek for certain, but it felt like it had some of the void imbued into it. We need more information for when the fight inevitably comes. I’m going to find it. So I’m heading to Ul’dah, right into the Thaumaturge guild archives, and with any luck, we’ll learn exactly what he’s capable of. And then we can plan on how to deny him whatever advantages it gives him”
Alphinaud sputtered “But….but this is hardly the time for research! We could-“
“Stop, Alphinaud”. Gwen waved him off, then moved to take Aleister’s face in her hands. He grasped them in return. “You need this, don’t you. To process what happened.”
He quietly nodded.
“Okay” she replied, kissing him softly. Then she turned to the others. “This is happening, full stop. When we come back from that tower, we’ll join back up with him, and I don’t doubt for a second the information he’ll come back with will be exactly what we need to end this miserable scum. Anyone want to complain, you can tell it to me, not him. Am I clear?” Her eyes met each of the Scions and the others in turn
Alphinaud looked like he wanted to say more, but he wisely shut his mouth. The other Scions looked uncertain, but none said a word. Dahkar and Rheika smirked and nodded. Fearless still looked worried, but she nodded as well.
“Good. Now get going, love”
Aleister smiled at her, forever grateful that this amazing woman stood by him every day. Thenreached out with his aether senses, finding the Ul’dahn aethereyte far from there, and began the familiar steps of the teleport spell.
Zenos would rue the day he’d used his body for a pawn. He swore it.
Look, ya’ll know what my usual glamour for Black Mage is on Fearless (and if you don’t, or if you want a reminder, click here) but I’m headed to the Garlemald section of the MSQ, and while the Ala Mhigan coat is VERY nice at showing off just how much leg she’s showing.....probably ain’t so good in the cold.
So I threw together this little number hased around the Flame Lieutenant’s coat, and I think it works rather well!
Full outfit can be found here on Eorzea Collection if you’re interested

"Master? A letter arrived for you."
Ahldblaet Fyrilberksyn looked up from the stack of documents with an irritated expression at the servant who'd interrupted him, a hyuran male of fair skin and hair. "Well, boy? Who is it from then? Twelve save you if this isn't worth interrupting my very important work!"
The man went even paler. "I....I don't know, master. The envelope was not signed. The post markings indicate that it originated in Eorzea, but otherwise the only marking is that of a small green axe. I don't know..."
Ahldblaet's eyes, normally perpetually narrowed due to being deep set in his face, widened in shock. "Give that here!" he shouted. "And be gone with you!"
The servant scurried over to Ahldblaet's massive desk and practically dropped the envelope on the nearest corner before fleeing with all haste, as though for his life. Ahldblaet immediately snatched it from the stack of parchment it had fallen on and inspected the markings that the servant had mentioned.
"Husband?" a voice called from the side door that led from his office further into the home. Said door opened and a shorter Roegadyn woman stepped through, her ash-colored skin in marked contrast to the sea-blue dress she wore. Her dark grey hair framed a face that wore an annoyed expression. "What is all this bellowing about? You are disturbing my guests. It is...unseemly."
Ahldblaet turned his severe gaze upon the new entrant. He was tall and exceptionally broad, a picture of strength in his youth, but his body had taken on a measure of fat in his older age and more sedentary work. Despite this, and his balding head of hair, his steely eyed expression still cowed many of the people he dealt with on a day to day basis. "It would seem, wife, that the enormous investment we have paid into those mercenaries we dispatched to Eorzea may have finally borne fruit. This is a missive their leader sent me. After our last communication I told him, in no uncertain terms, not to contact me until he had something of note to report. Unless he has foolishly ignored my orders, this would mean he has something."
The woman was not cowed, having long becoming immune to her husband's glares. Impatiently she gestured to the envelope. "Well, open it then, you great oaf! Maybe we will finally learn where our daughter vanished to!"
Ahldblaet tore the envelope and removed the missive inside. He began to read aloud, knowing from prior experience if he did not, his wife would snatch the paper from his hands mid-sentence. She was not a patient one.
"Masters Ahldblaet Fyrilberksyn and Lady Usynwyda Holaszirnwyn,
I am please to report that after much time and hard work on the part of the Emerald Marauders, we have located your wayward daughter. Furthermore, we have determined the reasoning as to why she evaded both us and every previous mercenary company your lordship sent to retrieve her
First, your daughter is no longer using her given name of Syhrwyda Ahldblaetwyn. Asking after that name yielded no results, aside from the merchants who recognized it only as pertaining to you. By sheer luck, we eventually stumbled across a Roegadyn language scholar who knew the translation of her first name and directed us to an adventurer known as 'Fearless Willow', one of the Warriors of Light.
I am hoping the story of the Warriors of Light does not require an explanation for your lordship, but I will remind you that these people are slayers of godlike beings who regularly enslave the minds of mortals around them, have engaged massive numbers of Garlean soldiers and magitek armor, defeated Imperial Legatuses in single combat (including the Crown Prince), and decisively ended a thousand-year war between a dragon horde and the nation of Ishgard.
From there, we set out to determine if this woman and your daughter are one and the same. It is well known that one of the Warriors of Light is in fact a Roegadyn woman, but we needed to be certain. Adventurers are often well traveled and thanks to the Aetheryte network, difficult to track. Your descriptions were also primarily of the physical sort, which did not help, as appearances are easy enough to change.
We caught a break in speaking to one of the mercenary crews you'd previously hired. Many of them had been either entirely wiped or or reduced in numbers to the degree that they'd disbanded. What few remained refused to speak with us once it became clear who we were tracking. One particular mercenary of an Ala Mhigan band (known as the Graybear Den, which if you recall abruptly returned your payment and refused the contract) however, let slip some valuable information after our agents plied him with enough drink. Once he realized who we were speaking of, he grew agitated and swore he would never help us find 'the Warrior o' Light". It would seem the Graybears believe they owed a measure of loyalty to the Warriors of LIght for their instrumental parts in liberating their homeland.
It was, however, enough. Once we determined that your daughter and this Warrior of Light were in fact one and the same, we began looking for ways to isolate her and take her prisoner. Unfortunately this has proven extremely difficult. As they are involved in affairs that affect the entirety of the star, the Warriors of Light are often on the move, moreso than normal adventurers. Furthermore, as I have mentioned, they are peerless warriors, often in each other's company or those of their fellow Scions of the Seventh Dawn. If you don't know the order, suffice to say they are Warriors and Scholars both who labor on behalf of all peoples to defend the world against tyranny and false gods. They are exceptionally successful in this regard. The Scions often meet and collaborate with the leaders of various powers on this continent, who are often accompanied by their own soldiers or bodyguards.
We have remained patient however, and managed to catch a glimpse of her. As I mentioned was likely, she has extensively changed her appearance. Her hair is now of a longer cut and nearly all black, with only highlights of the teal you had mentioned remaining. She has also taken to wearing dark makeup.
We have also determined that unlike her fellow Warriors of Light, she does not dwell in the Scion's headquarters. Instead, she has taken to living in the Hingashi port city of Kugane, where she has a modest home in the district of the city reserved for foreigners.
Finally, and you may wish to brace her ladyship for this part, she does not live there alone. Our spies have reported that her home is occupied by two other women, and their observations of them interacting within the city indicates that the three of them are lovers
We believe that this is our best shot at capturing her, but the price for her return to you has just doubled.
You are doubtless shaking with rage, but you hired us to retrieve a woman that you led us to believe would provide minimal resistance. Even isolated from the other Scions in Kugane, we believe we will face extreme resistance in this job. For starters, your daughter has mastered several forms of combat, including the ways of the Hingashi samurai, the axe-masters of Abalathia's Spine, and the art of thaumaturgy. She is also known to wield the Sharlayan art of Astrology, and has mastered a form of dance from Radz-at-Han that wields circular blades with deadly precision.
Furthermore, Fearless Willow is a known and loved name within the borders of Kugane, despite being a foreigner in a city that remains neutral to all concerns beyond their borders. She was instrumental in aiding their geomancers in repelling an attack from a fox-like beast known as 'Kinko' and she also trained alongside the Sekiseigumi (the samurai order that enforces the laws of the city, brutally so) and helped them put down a rebellion from within their own ranks. One of her lovers is a high ranking member of the Sekiseigumi. The other is a member of her dance troupe who is on an extended tour in the city. She is every bit as deadly in the art as Fearless is.
The point is that, even isolated from the other Scions, many people will rush to her aid. We expect heavy resistance and significant losses. The original reward will not suffice to cover this.
We will not move forward with this operation until we have your confirmation of acceptance of the new price. And we suggest you hurry, as events brewing suggest your daughter will soon be called back to the fight, at which point it is impossible to tell when we will have another opportunity
Ahldblaet set the letter on his desk, shaking with rage as he looked to his wife."How DARE that miniscule INSECT think to extort us?? A Warrior of Light, indeed. As if our useless fool of a daughter has the brains to take on even one sort of combat discipline, much less five! How gullible does he THINK us to be?"
Usynwyda nodded, a disgusted sneer on her face. "The NERVE of her, to merely toss aside the name we chose for her, only to refer to herself in the....ugh...common tongue! Still, the name cannot be a coincidence. Whatever other lies that little gnat undoubtedly told, this is the best lead we have had on Syhrwyda since she ran away."
"It is. And if they are not all lies, then it is all the more imperative we retrieve her before word of any of this gets out among our enemies. The very idea that she would toss aside the husband we painstakingly chose for her after careful selection and delicate negotiation in favor of laying with another woman, much less two! I worried she would do stupid things, but this level of degeneracy, of abberance? It is unconscionable!"
Usynwyda shuddered. "We cannot let this get out. I can never face any of the ladies if they should learn my daughter has become no better than some...common whore. We must marry her off to the Greinmyrgan boy with all haste before she does any further damage to us, to the company."
Ahldblaet scribbled furiously. "I am already writing orders to have our ship made ready and for our elite guards to prepare for a journey. We will find her and we end this nonsense."
Far away, in Kugane, the Warrior of Light known as Fearless Willow shuddered as she prepared to fall asleep. She had no ping from the Echo, no signal from her finely honed danger sense to explain it, but she definitely felt as if trouble was heading her way, and no idea what it might be.
Crane - stretch out one's body or neck in order to see something.
Kugane tended to get very warm this time of year, and Ranaa Mhigo was grateful that the casual attire she wore was so breathable. It did an excellent job of keeping the sun from her bronzed skin, but let those all-too rare cool breezes grant the full measure of their cooling relief when they did show up.
One was arriving now, and she let out an enjoyable sigh as it passed through. Unfortunately she also raised her her ever so slightly, and the movement sent a small stab of pain through her neck muscles. With a small exclamation of pain, she reached up to rub the pain away.
Makoto, who was sitting at the table of one of Kugane's smaller teahouses with her, looked over to her with concern in her eyes. "Are you well, my....friend?"
The small hesitation told Ranaa that she'd almost finished that sentence with "heart" as she often called Ranaa in private, but that she'd stopped herself from doing so. Public displays of affection were somewhat frowned on within Hingan culture, and relationships with foreigners or people of the same gender were even more so. Makoto occupied a somewhat prominent position within Kugane as captain of the Sekiseigumi, and so she had to keep their relationship private. Sometimes she went a little overboard on the caution, but Ranaa couldn't be too mad about it. After all she was very affectionate in private.
"I'm fine, just a little neck cramp." she replied. She leaned in and whispered "Between all his training we've been doing for our next performance and all the times we have to crane our neck to look up at Fearless, I think maybe it's gotten more sore than the rest of me!"
Makoto giggled quietly, smiling even as she cast her eyes around, confirming that no one else was within earshot. "You might jest, but honestly mine has been hurting me more than usual lately as well! But I don't think I can ever really complain about it. Seeing her look down back at me with all of that love in her gaze....it is very much a worthwhile trade."
Ranaa smiled back at her. "It really does. Hey, I'm curious, actually. What was your reaction the first time you ever saw her?"
She thought back to those days when she had traveled to Eorzea, seeking the legendary samurai Musosai, hoping he might be willing to rejoin them in bringing the insurgent who wanted to burn the city they all now called home to the ground.
"I will honestly never forget the sight. I was right outside the tavern known as the 'Quicksand' in Ul'dah, hoping to catch sight of Musosai, when this absolutely massive woman approaches me. I remember being equally terrified and entranced, my very breath taken away by how beautiful she was, to the point where it took me a few moments to realize that she was both wearing a katana at her hip and addressing me by name. I remember keeping my eyes absolutely fixed on her own, but my mind was practically begging me to allow myself to admire just how well her armor fit her!"
She looks down at her teacup. "Of course, it was then that I had learned that the man I had pinned my hopes on was no longer among the living, so that did put somewhat of a damper on my traitorous mind."
Makoto shook her head and looked back to Ranaa, smiling. "No. I'm not getting lost back there because it has led me here, and here, in my greatest happiness, is where I wish to be. So, now you must tell me, my dearest Ranaa. What was your own reaction to meeting "our girl" as you are fond of calling her?
Ranaa laughs. "Well, I'll be honest, I don't quite remember the first real time I laid eyes upon her. She was just another member of my first audience in Eorzea. Said audience was quite large, as a Thavnairian dancing troupe performing is hardly a common occurrence in Limsa Lominsa and there was no shortage of beautiful girls watching, both Roegadyn and otherwise. I make it a habit of catching as many eyes as possible when I dance, if only for a brief few seconds. I remember seeing her in the crowd, mostly cause of her axe. She was carrying a real big one"
"But then afterwards, Mistress Nashmeira brought her over to the Troupe and introduced her as her new protege and my new dance partner." Ranaa blushed a little. "I tried so hard to come off all smooth and confident when I talked to her, but inside, I had two conflicting thoughts going through my head. The first was 'How is this mountain of muscles and tits ever going to have the grade needed to learn the Kriegstanz?' The other was 'Oh, Twelve, I'm going to get to look up at this gorgeous mountain of muscles in a dancer's costume...a lot...'"
Both of them erupted in laughter. Makoto managed to regain control of herself first. "We should make our way home, dearest. Perhaps we can convince our 'gorgeous mountain of muscles' to put them to good use in giving us a shoulder massage"
Ranaa smiled coyly at her. "I love you and your brilliant mind. Let's go!"
A short walk to the ferry and a ride across the river later, the pair arrived in their neighborhood, walking hand in hand. Unlike Kugane, Shirogane was reserved exclusively for foreign inhabitants, as well as any citizens who were invited to live with them. The pair were known to a few of their neighbors, but no one else even bothered the pair. Makoto thoroughly enjoyed being able to let her guard down at the end of the day. No one here knew she was a part of the Sekiseigumi, and unlike most Hingashi natives, the residents were not bothered in the least by "less traditional" romantic arrangements.
Ranaa had stopped to speak with a Lalafell neighbor of theirs, a man employed by the East Aldenard Trading Company in the city, and was just catching back up to Makoto when she noticed a familiar person walking up the road. "Wait....why is Franks here?"
Sure enough, the "Old Man" as he preferred to be called, was indeed walking up the road, away from their home. He was carrying a large satchel which Makoto could see held all manner of tools. "Franks, is that you?" Makoto called. "What brings you here?"
Franks waved. "Ah, ladies! Well met. You're just in time, I just finished the addition!"
Ranaa and Makoto exchanged glances. "Addition? What addition?" Ranaa inquired.
He smirked "Ooooh, she didn't tell you! Well, I'll say nothing more, lest I let the rest of the metaphorical couerl out of the bag! Enjoy it!" With that, he gave them a wave goodbye and sauntered onward,
"What in the star was THAT about?" Ranaa wondered as they watched Franks head for the ferry.
Makoto took her hand again. "I suspect we shall find out when we get home, love."
A few less eventful minutes later, they arrived at the home they shared with Fearless to find her waiting for them at the gate. "Oh, good, you're home!" she said, kneeling down to embrace the pair, one under each arm. "I have a surprise for you, come on!"
Fearless stood and spun around, grabbing one of their hands each as she did, and quickly walked around to the house, Both Ranaa and Makoto stumbled as Fearless almost dragged them behind her, but they quickly adjusted their pace and caught up to her.
Around the back of the house, up against a small rocky cliff that gave them some privacy, Makoto spotted a feature that had not been there that morning. It was a large rectangular wooden structure built onto a series of carefully sculpted rocks that gave an illusion of being naturally shaped. On the far end, a taller wooden structure rose, topped by a black tiled roof. Steam rose from the structure.
Ranaa gasped. "Is...is that a personal hot spring? Do we have a HOT SPRING in our backyard??"
Fearless smiled at her. "We do! I've wanted to take you both to one for so long, but the only ones I know of are in Eorzea, and we haven't had time for an extended sojourn there. I haven't been able to find one in Doma, and I know going to any of the ones in Kugane would be too risky. I mentioned it to the others, and Franks came up with this wonderful idea. He crafted it entirely himself. Fire crystals keep it heated, water crystals continuously replenish the supply and keep it clean. Now we can enjoy it whenever we like!
Ranaa lept up into her fellow dancer's arms. "And I'm sure getting to see us in swimwear a lot didn't factor into your decision at all" she teased.
Fearless kissed her. "Well, I see you in minimal clothing a lot as it is, sweetling. Makoto on the other hand? Yeah, totally did all this just to see her wear swimsuits more often
Makoto blushed and smacked her on the arm. "Do you want to tease, or shall we go inside and change and see how nice it is?"
A few minutes later, Makoto found herself loving the addition to their home as she leaned back against Fearless' legs while strong but gentle hands massaged all the aches out of her neck and shoulders as Ranaa sat next to her, awaiting her turn with her usual amount of patience. Which was to say, none at all. She continuously tried to distract her with kisses and teasing touches, waiting for the moment she could slip into her spot and begin receiving Fearless' ministrations.
Though it had not ended as she hoped, Makoto was very glad she'd made that first trip to Eorzea. It had changed her life in ways she never could have imagined, all for the better.
I haven’t participated much in Roevember, but I did want to contribute to today’s so here is a collection of pics I’ve shared before of all of Fearless’ current combat jobs and their glams
