Thank you so much Sir Amar Bendjama
What Amar Bendjama, Algeria’s ambassador to the UN, has just done is remarkably clear. In the face of the U.S. veto, he did not remain silent or hide behind vague diplomatic formulas, he made his voice heard: firm, determined, holding power to account, defending justice.
Amar Bendjama’s words at the UN cut through hypocrisy. When the United States uses its veto to cover up injustice, it is not “protecting” peace : it is trampling international law. Algeria’s stance reminds us that silence is already complicity.
This moment is essential : it shows that international law and the dignity of peoples cannot be reduced to the game of the powerful. And that there are still, fortunately, representatives who dare to speak the truth, even when speaking comes at a cost.
I salute this courageous intervention. And I hope others will follow at the UN, in the Arab world, everywhere so that the principles of respect, solidarity, and accountability are not empty words but shared obligations.
