It had been close to six months since she had been moved up to Scotland. With her parentâs possible divorce, her father didnât want her to get caught up on the scandal. Ruin the prospects of a good marriage for his daughter. No anyone would be good enough for a daughter of a Marquess. Thatâs what her father had told his daughters when they were little. Her aunt was her fatherâs only sister. Married to the oldest son a newly created Scottish aristocrat. The only joy she had while being stuck in Scotland was her auntâs piano and horses.
The day had started as it normally would, after lunch she would go for a ride alone. She didnât like having people follow her, she didnât need her aunt to know the men in the stables gave her a âmanâsâ saddle. The freedom it gave her as she could gallop down the large open spaces of her uncleâs estate. Not worry about anyone seeing her. Where she could be alone and free for even a short time.Â
On her way back from her ride, she took one of the roads that lead towards the manor. The horse trotting at a steady pace down the dirty road. One of the few sunny days she had seen in a while, the sun would peak out from between the leaves. Making the road look like a painting.Â
Not hearing the sounds coming from the woods, she didnât have time to stop her horse as someone came running out into the road in front of her. The person had spooked the horse who steeped. Losing grop on the reins she was throws backwards hitting the ground.Â
The impact must have knocked her out, as she opened her eyes a minute later she saw a man hovering over her. That must have been the man who spooked her horse.Â
