HAN LEARNED THE HARD WAY ALL TOO LONG AGO that there wasn’t much point to tryin’ to change Chewbacca’s mind, once it’s made up.

( If anybody wanted t’ have a laugh at HAN SOLO finally learnin’ to pick his battles, now’d be the time.  --- --- Only took him what, a handful of decades ? )

Still, the DRAMATIC SIGH that leaves him is big enough to notice ; still, just because that hairball’s MADE UP HIS MIND FOR HIM doesn’t mean Han has t’ like it.

. . . The crooked smile that sneaks up on him all hung open like a hatch needin’ screws is just force of habit, of course.

❝ WELL, HE SNORES. ❞  Hands to the tabletop gets him ready to push up out of his seat from behind the hologame table, cuttin’ losses all the same.  HE’S NOT ABOUT TO GET BEAT TWICE, in his own home.  ❝ Don’t say I didn’t warn you. ❞

❝ WHAT ?  NO ! ❞  Han’s had this nightmare, before : it’s his turn to talk to Mothma, whatever, only t’ look down and find out HE’S NOT WEARING ANY PANTS.  At least, that’s basically how it feels to hear Chewbacca’s OFFER mimicked right back in brilliant - green Galactic Basic.  This is not happening.  His quick not now gesture across his neck gets folded up into both palms pressed to his face, the particular ring of WOOKIEE LAUGHTER just insult atop injury.

❝ No, no, that’s not what he meant --- --- NO, YOU CAN’T FLY HER, and no, you can’t bring that . . . thing aboard, either, if it don’t know how t’ MIND ITS BUSINESS. ❞

     “  and you’ve become increasingly more frustrating at every chance you have to ‘protect’ me, lantern,  ”  the queen returns with fire lightly brimming beneath her words. anger was the basis and kom played off on it, a force of habit. sighs bellow through, heavily done as she tilts her head to turn from her. a twist of her lips purse back to bite more of her words back,  “  whoever assigned you the task made a mistake. i do not need you or anyone else to keep me alive.  ”
