He’s angry. That’s the one thing that’s clear when she watches Sasuke stalk toward her, with a fist clenched at his side and now-black eyes hard as stone.

She’d been watching him from afar, sitting amidst various injured shinobi, as he scanned the crowd with his sole sharingan, no doubt looking for her distinguishable pink hair. And when his mismatched eyes finally fell upon her that was the only thought that flew through her mind.

It makes sense to her. After all, she’d ignored him and ran off toward where the explosions had sounded despite his command for her to stay put. She was seven months pregnant and had been consistently weak from sickness since the beginning.

But knowing that there were certainly casualties forced her away from her spot–hidden in an alley between buildings of this dangerous city–and toward the chaos. She’d been running low on both energy and chakra for her entire pregnancy but she knew that even a little bit of help could make the difference between the life and death of someone in trouble.

She isn’t even able to rise and greet him. She’d used up the little bit of chakra that she had to spare within minutes of arriving at the sight of the supposed bombings, and the girl whose arm she’d repaired was now the one looking after her.

But as soon as Sasuke is within arms reach of her, he startles her by dropping to his knees. And as his arm wraps around her waist, pulling her large belly against him, he kisses her passionately. When Sakura feels his shaking hand grip the fabric of her shirt tightly, she immediately understands without him needing to say it.
