ok now that we have that out of the way.

mei mei telling nanami "1. move north if you are looking for a new side for yourself, or 2. move south if you want to stay who you are" and then when nanami is about to die, haibara appearing and pointing in an unknown direction.

because if haibara pointed north, then he was telling nanami to move on, on to the afterlife which would be "north"/"upwards" of where he was with himself, and to accept what had happened. but if haibara pointed south, he was telling nanami to go to kuantan, malaysia, and build his secluded house, read the countless books he never bought. living with himself and the decisions he had made all through his life.
